In Excel, when you insert or create comments into cells, in default, your user name automatically is inserted with a colon into the comments at the same time. Sometimes, you do not want others view your user name in the comments, so you need to remove them one by one. But if there are hundreds of comments in your worksheet or workbook, you can use Kutools for Excel's Remove/Add User Name in Comment function to remove or add the user name of all comments at once.

Click Kutools >> More >> Remove/Add User Name in Comment. See screenshots:

With Remove/Add User Name in Comment, you can quickly remove the user names from all comments.

1. Active the worksheet or workbook which contains some comments that you want to remove the comment user names.

2. Click Kutools > More > Remove/Add User Name in Comment to display the Remove/Add User Name in Comment dialog. And in the Remove/Add User Name in Comment dialog, specify the settings you need. See screenshot:

A: In the Scope drop-down list, you can choose the active worksheet
or active workbook which you want to remove the comment user name.

B: In the User Name text box, type the user name you want to remove.
In default, it shows your default user name in the text box, you can
change it.

C: Check Remove user name from comments.

3. Click Apply, and another dialog displays to tell you how many comment user names have been removed. See screenshot:


4. Click OK and Cancel to close the dialogs, and the comment user names in the specified scope have been removed. See screenshot:

Note: If you check Force non-bold formatting in the Remove/Add User Name in Comment dialog, the result shown as below:



Add user name to comments in active worksheet/workbook

If you want to add the user name to comments again, also you can quickly add them to the comments with the Remove/Add User Name in Comment function.

1. Active the worksheet or workbook you want to add the comment user names. Before you apply Remove/Add User Name in Comment, please make sure that there are comments in your active worksheet or workbook.

2. Click Kutools > More > Remove/Add User Name in Comment to display the Remove/Add User Name in Comment dialog. And in the Remove/Add User Name in Comment dialog, specify the setting you need. See screenshot:

A: In the Scope drop-down list, you can choose the active worksheet
or active workbook to add the comment user name.

B: In the User Name text box, type the user name you want to add.
In default, it shows your default user name in the text box, you can
change it.

C: Check Add user name to comments option.

3. Click Apply, and another dialog displays to tell you how many comment user names have been added. See screenshot:


4. Click OK and Cancel to close the dialogs, and your specific user names have been added to the comments of the selected scope. See screenshots:

Note: If you uncheck Make name bold in the Remove/Add User Name in Comment dialog, the result shown as below:
