Quickly remove time from date time format permanently in Excel

If you have a list of date time formatting cells, and you need to remove the time from the date time cells permanently and only keep the date format content in cells, for example, to remove 12:11:31 from 1/21/2017 12:11:31 and make it exactly 1/21/2017. Normally, you may have to take some time to create a formula to remove the timestamp from the cells. Can we have the built-in formula for such purpose in Excel? To remove the time from date time format cells, and only leave the date format as following screenshot shown:

After installing Kutools for Excel, please do as follows:

1. Click a blank cell where you want to output the result, and then click Kutools > Formula Helper > Date & Time > Remove time from date, see screenshot:

2. In the Formulas Helper dialog box, click button to select the date time format cells which you want to remove the time, see screenshot:

3. Then click Ok button, the time has been removed and only date is extracted in the selected cell. Then, select the output cell and drag the fill handle to the cells which you want to remove the time from their corresponding cells, and all only dates are extracted, see screenshot:

Notes:

1. You can directly apply this formula =DATE(YEAR(A2),MONTH(A2),DAY(A2)) to remove time and only keep date from the date time format cell.

2. To find the exact formula quickly, you can also check the Filter checkbox, and then type the key word you need in the Formulas Helper dialog.
